Towards Christmas and New Year Food Prices in Probolinggo Begin to Soar

Channel Rakyat. Although the Christmas and New Year celebrations are still lacking in about 3 weeks, the prices of some vegetables in Pasar Baru, Probolinggo City begin to crawl up.

Vegetable commodities whose prices are observed to rise include, carrots, tomatoes, potatoes, pring onions. The average price increase alone is Rp. 3 thousand to Rp. 10 thousand per kilogram.

For carrots, the price is currently at Rp. 18 thousand per kilogram, up from the previous Rp. 8 thousand per kilogram. Cabbage rises to IDR 15 per kilogram, from the previous IDR 10 per kilogram

As well as tomatoes amounting to Rp 6 thousand per kilogram, up from the previous Rp 2 thousand per kilogram. Pring Onion is Rp. 12 thousand per kilogram, up from Rp. 8 thousand per kilogram, and potatoes amounting to Rp. 12 thousand per kilogram from Rp. 10,000 per kilogram.

One of the vegetable traders, Hariyah (37) said that the increase in prices had occurred since the commemoration of the Birthday of the Prophet and continued to crawl up to the present. According to him, the increase in vegetable prices is influenced by weather factors, where many vegetables in the scope of farmers quickly rot.

"The price has risen since the mullah (Maulid Nabi) yesterday, until now. If the traders want to go down in price, so the buyers don't complain. If this continues, customers can also run away later," he said on Monday (12/10/2018 )


Contacted separately, Head of the Probolinggo City Micro and Trade Business Cooperative Agency Gatot Wahyudi said he would immediately check the rising prices of vegetable commodities in Pasar Baru.

Gatot considered, if the price of vegetables crawled there was a connection with Christmas and New Year.

"Soon our team will check the field, so that the prices of goods in the market will not go up," he explained.

Although the majority of vegetable commodities experienced price increases. But for chili prices, it is still stagnant and tends to fall.

For example for the price of small chili (rawit), currently the price is IDR 15 thousand per kilogram, down from the previous IDR 30 thousand per kilogram. While the price of large chili remains, in the range of Rp. 18 thousand per kilogram.

The price of broiler chicken is currently at Rp. 35 thousand per kilogram, chicken meat is Rp. 60 thousand per kilogram. These prices tend to be stagnant, from the previous price.

While the price of broiler chicken eggs rose by Rp 24 thousand per kilogram, from the previous Rp 20 thousand per kilogram.
